L’Usine à Silence x Videlio:
Feedback on an Exceptional Sound Editing Project
When audiovisual technology elevates sound design.
A collaboration born out of a fundamental need
Eighteen years ago, L’Usine à Silence was founded to meet a specific need: to have facilities suitable for professional sound editing. The studio initially set up shop in a space shared with Artefact, which quickly became a trusted partner.
The Animal Kingdom: An Immersive Sound Experience
The film blends fiction with animal transformations. It required a custom sound design that was both realistic and fantastical. Thanks to the audio systems installed by Videlio, the studio was able to work in a perfectly calibrated post-production environment.
🎙️“Every ambient sound, every breath, every animal transformation had to be audible and believable. Sound was a character in its own right.”
To capture the authenticity of nature’s sounds, L’Usine à Silence collaborated with a naturalist sound engineer. Hours of recordings made deep in the forest were subtly edited to serve the film’s artistic vision.
A César Award for *L’Usine à Silence*
This meticulous work paid off: *Le Règne Animal* won the César Award for Best Sound. This recognition honors not only the film but also the technical collaboration that took place behind the scenes.
🏅 “It was a very emotionally charged project. Seeing our work honored with a César is a source of immense pride.”
Videlio's Technical Solutions for Creativity
Beyond simply supplying equipment, Videlio demonstrated responsiveness throughout the project. Their quick response to technical issues helped prevent any delays in the schedule.
The studio was also able to test, for the first time, Avid’s Media Composer ↔ Pro Tools bridge, which saved a considerable amount of time when transferring sessions between video and audio.
